Another very successful and popular – not to mention hot! – Repair Cafe was held on 28th June at Bilbrook Village Hall. Lots of people bought along their items to be looked at, and although some couldn’t be, most were repaired.
The ethos of Repair Cafe is to keep items in use for as long as possible. If items bought in cannot be repaired, we endeavour to try and show where parts can be sourced from and offer our customers the opportunity to return to us so we can fit it.
We had 61 items bought in of which 46 were repaired. Half of our visitors were first timers with garden tool sharpening and repairing being the most popular item bought in. Thanks to donations and sales of teas coffees and cakes and Mark’s brilliant wooden goods, we managed to raise over £200 which will pay for the next Repair Cafe.
A massive thank you to all our repairers, who are all volunteers and gave up their Saturday morning to help stem the flow of items being thrown away and, in the case of Staffordshire, possibly incinerated.
Thank you too for all those who donated plants for the plant swap. Nest time it will be jigsaws in readiness for Christmas.
The next Repair Cafe will be on Saturday 25th October 2025 from 10am – 1pm at Bilbrook Village Hall.
