The People’s Emergency Briefing on Climate Change

We were encouraged to see how many people attended the screenings of the People’s Emergency Briefing on Climate Change on August 18th and September 29th. We were very pleased to see Mike Wood, MP, in attendance at the August screening.

The People’s Emergency Briefing is an eye-opening film bringing together nine leading UK scientists and experts with the latest evidence and why it matters for things like:

🌧️ Extreme weather

🍞 Food security

🏥 Health

💷 Cost of living

The film is based on the National Emergency Briefing in Westminster (featured by ITV, Channel 4 and The Times) with appearances from Chris Packham, Deborah Meaden, and a range of voices from across the UK.

After the film screening, there were open discussions about what it means for our community and what we can do locally. There was plenty of discussion, and hopefully it motivated attendees to ask their MP to support a government-backed, nationally televised briefing. Time is our enemy; everyone should know how serious the climate crisis is, now. The People’s Emergency Briefing cuts through climate misinformation using leading UK science to deliver clear facts and practical community solutions.

How You Can Help:

  • Sign and share the petition: The petition calls on the government to stage an official, televised national emergency briefing on the climate and nature crisis. The petition remains open until 20th November. Sign the petition here: https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/767687
  • Lobby your MP, asking them to support the Parliamentary Call for an official emergency briefing, and to commit to attending the upcoming parliamentary debate. Be sure to include your full name and local address/postcode so their office knows you are a constituent. MPs listen to their constituents, so sharing why this matters to you locally makes a real difference. You can find out who your MP is and how to contact them at:

  • Host or find a screening: We want to reach as many people as possible and build momentum across our communities. You can find local screenings or sign up to host your own: https://www.nebriefing.org/host-the-film

If you missed the screenings in Bilbrook, please look out for other events across the local area. A big thank you to Bilbrook Parish Council and the Bilbrook Climate Action Group, who supported us in making these events a great success.
