The Great British Spring Clean 2025

A massive thank you goes to all the volunteers who turned up in late March for the Great British Spring Clean. The village looks so much better after all their efforts.

We collected 26 sacks of litter, most of it single-use plastic 😡. Single-use plastic is truly the most insidious of all litter. It has an extremely short useful life but then stays around for hundreds of years, slowly breaking down into microplastics.

SAD FACT

Did you know we all now have enough microplastics in our bodies to make a credit card and in our brain, enough to make a plastic spoon!!!

We also noticed a lot of blue plastic around the Duck Lane Parade shops. At first, we weren’t sure what it was, then 💡 ,it was all the pens from the William Hill bookies, which had been discarded and run over by cars, how lovely.

We would like to thank Chloe and her staff at the Woodman for hosting us in the pub for free teas and coffees, after the litter pick.
