On 14th October 2023 we held our fourth Repair Cafe at Bilbrook Village Hall, and what a morning it was! We smashed all previous records with 85 repairs, consisting of 5 x electrical, 9 x PAT testing, 6 x sewing, 9 x Jewellery, 4 x bikes, 6 x general, and a huge 46 tools sharpened!
It’s very comforting to know that overall in our first year of holding repair cafes, we have prevented over 230 items from being thrown away and incinerated. The plant swap was also a great success. Not only does the repair cafe make sense, it’s also an opportunity for people to get together and have a chat over a cup of tea and a slice of cake.
We want to thank our amazing volunteers who all gave up their Saturday morning to ensure the event was a great success – we couldn’t do this without you. We have enough money in contributions to pay for another cafe, which we will host in the spring.
We are always looking for volunteers to help us repair items, so if you have skills please get in touch especially if you can help our tool sharpening team who are always very much in demand. Not only will you be helping us you will also be to do something wonderful for our beleaguered planet.
Our video below shows our volunteers hard at work in October.
