You may remember that in September 2023 we stepped in to help save a Norwegian Maple tree that was going to be felled in Bilbrook. You can see our original article on this here.
In June 2024 we spotted new shoots growing on the Norwegian Maple in Joeys Lane. Last year we persuaded Staffordshire County Council not to completely cut down the tree. It had a dangerous split in it, so they wanted to cut it down and grind out the roots, costing thousands of pounds.
Thankfully, after much conversations, the council agreed and the tree was cut to just below where the split was. New shoots have been spotted and hopefully the mature tree will continue to grow, to provide shade, habitat for wildlife, alleviation to flooding, mitigation from pollution and continue to suck down the greenhouse gas Carbon Dioxide.
